The Fuel Forecourt and Equipment show was staged from 25th to 27th March at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham, UK. The show previously named ‘IFFE‘, was co-located with the ‘National Convenience Show’ and accounted for about one quarter of the total exhibition area, with around 45 exhibitors.

The change in the show title is, say the organizers, a reflection of the show’s predominantly UK profile.

Despite the fact, that this year’s event was clearly dominated by shop products, leading pump manufacturers Wayne and Tokheim were in attendance displaying their latest offerings. Other key forecourt equipment companies exhibiting included OPW, Istobal, Fairbanks and Berry’s Technologies.

A seminar programme was presented by, leading UK magazine, Forecourt Trader. These included sessions on ‘How and why tanks fail and what retailers can do about it’, ‘Fuel and Forecourt Payment Trends, Opportunities and Challenges’ and 'Future Fuel Supply & Brand Opportunities'.

Show manager Jack Halliday from William Reed Business Media, organizers of the event says “We renamed the show to reflect its core UK audience. FFE 2012 was a resounding success.”

As usual we have collated information on the latest products on show. Our video, which is published on PetrolPlaza TV, includes interviews with Wayne, Tokheim and Berry’s Technologies.

To get a better idea of the current developments in the UK market, we have also conducted an interesting interview with Merril Bolton, Forecourt Trader’s editor.

A perspective from the retailer’s point of view is gained in our interview with Fraser Duffin, General Manager of MRH, the largest independent petroleum retailer in the UK.
