EU authorities give OK for acquisition by BP of Statoil jet fuel business, Reuters says

European Union authorities “gave conditional clearance” so that BP can go ahead with the purchase of Statoil Fuel and Retail Aviation, Reuters reported December 15.

The approval was obtained after BP said it plans to divest the Statoil jet fuel business in four airports, removing concerns by the European Union about concentration of activities leading to price increases.

The divestments will allow the entry of an additional aviation fuel supplier, the EU antitrust regulator said, according to the Reuters report.
