PGN to add more natural gas filling stations

The Indonesia state-owned Perusahaan Gas Negara, a gas distributor, will add more natural gas filling stations in line with a government program that aims to move faster with conversions of vehicles to natural gas from gasoline, according to press reports.

Last update:

“We will install natural gas fuel dispensers so that consumers can also fill on natural gas there,” company official Irwan Andri Atmanto was recently quoted as saying by The Jakarta Post, which in turn cited a report by the Antara news agency.

There are some 73 gasoline stations in Jakarta close to gas pipelines owned by the state gas company.

The move is part of several actions planned by the company which also include supplying gas to other companies in Jakarta as well as adding at least two new filling stations immediately. PGN, which is the acronym of the company, currently has seven filling stations.

Reductions in subsidies to fuels are expected to lead drivers to choose to convert their vehicles to run on natural gas, Irwan added.

It was not possible to immediately confirm the report with the company or with Antara news agency.
