Vietnam drivers introduced to self-service pumps

Vietnam drivers were starting to see the country’s first self-service pumps, Vietnam media recently reported.

Last update:

Two filling stations located in Hanoi were introducing self-service pumps but only to cars as it is a project in a trial phase which will be later extended to motorcycles which are the vehicles that make up the bulk of fuel station traffic, according to an early December report by English-language online newspaper VietNamNet.

“The new self-service is aimed at improving the transparency of petrol trading,” said Tran Ngoc Nam, deputy general director of the Vietnam National Petroleum Group (Petrolimex).

The newspaper said the comment was originally published by local media Infonet in a report where the official also explained that self-service pumps were widely used in other regions of the world.
