Lower diesel, gasoline prices fail to increase driver’s demand in France in November

Deliveries of fuels for vehicles in France in November were 3.78 million cubic meters, a 3.2% decline compared with November 2013, according to a December 11 report that appeared on the webpage of the Union Francaise des Industries Petrolieres (French Union of Oil Industries).

The French Union for Oil Industries said in a report under the subheadline “no immediate impact from lower fuel prices in their consumption” that the failure of overall demand to pick up despite weaker prices is a result of of a 2.6% drop in deliveries of gasoline without lead and a 3.4% reduction in diesel deliveries. Diesel accounted for 82% of French fuel consumption, it added.

The figures were provided by the Comite Professionel du Petrol (Professional Committee for Petrol) , the Union Francaise des Industries Petrolieres said.

The cumulative consumption during the first eleven months of 2014 compared with the same period a year earlier was nearly unchanged as it was just 0.2% lower, the organization said.
