Russia, Ukraine have cheapest fuels in Europe; Norway, Italy, UK the most expensive

Prices for gasoline and diesel are much lower in Russia and Ukraine while they are the highest in western Europe countries including Norway, Italy and the UK, according to comparison figures prepared by Touring Club Suisse and which were available on January 15 in the website of The Automobile International Federation.

According to the figures, a liter of 95-octane gasoline could currently be bought in Russia for the equivalent of just under 0.53 euros while the second lowest price was Ukraine with the equivalent of 0.91 euros. Prices in Luxembourg were also among the lowest at 1.08 euros.

Gasoline prices for the 95-octane product in Norway were the highest at nearly 1.61 euros trailed closely by Netherlands with nearly 1.60 euros and Italy at 1.59 euros.

As for diesel, Russia had once again the lowest price at 0.50 euro while prices in Ukraine were 0.88 euro.

The highest price for diesel in Europe was in the UK where it could be bought at 1.54 euro per liter. Diesel prices in Norway were the second highest at 1.50 euros.
