Cell Power obtained from road diesel to be tested in Africa

PowerCell Sweden AB and Mitochondria Energy have agreed to collaborate “to develop diesel-fed fuel cell power solutions to the African market” through a technology they name PowerPac, according to a PowerCell statement released January 15

Last update:

“The PowerPac is a fuel cell system that converts diesel fuel into electricity in a reliable, competitive and environmentally friendly way. By using widely available road diesel as fuel, it will offer a cost-effective power supply solution that has no noxious emissions and a noise level kept to a minimum,” the PowerCell statement said.

The PowerPac transforms diesel into hydrogen which is fed to a fuel cell to produce electricity. It requires minimal maintenance and is operated and monitored remotely through the cellular data network, the statement added.

The next generation of the PowerPac is now being assembled and will be deployed for testing in South Africa and Sweden in 2015.

Mitochondria will be involved in the preproduction technology and testing processes to ensure the end product meets customer requirements.
