Car, light truck sales to increase in 2015 in American market

A total of 16.94 million new car and light trucks are projected to be sold in the US in 2015, according to information attributed by press release distribution media to the National Automobile Dealers Association in the US.

The association had forecast sales of 16.4 million new car and light truck sales for 2014 and was on target.

“We expect to see significant growth in sales of light trucks, particularly in the large-size CUV and SUV segments,” said Steven Szakaly, economist for the association, according to the report. The light truck segment is projected to increase 15% year-on-year in a market trend accelerated by “lower gasoline prices”. A 15% expected expansion in US housing will directly impact pick-up truck sales, he said.
