Zambia to test “portable” fuel stations aimed at rural areas, Zambia Daily reports
One local Zambian company has plans to start a “portable filling station project” and the country fuel authorities hope that it can become a solution for rural areas, the Zambia Daily Mail reported at the end of December.
“One of the benefits of having portable filling stations is that they are estimated to cost one-third of the total cost of putting up a conventional filling station, which costs between $1.5 million and $2.5 million,” said Langiwe Lungu, identified by the newspaper as executive director of Zambia’s Energy Regulation Board.
An initial trial will be made in the Chibombo district and if successful it will be implemented in other areas, the newspaper published on December 30.
