Using vegetable life for fuel wrong choice: report
Using vegetable life to produce energy like ethanol is inefficient as it is costly and takes away fertile land from human food consumption uses, a recently published study by the World Resources Institute said
Western governments should stop supporting the biofuel industry because it has helped drive up food prices. In the US, for example, ethanol production takes up a significant proportion of the corn crop, the study said.
The potential of vegetable-derived fuel for reducing pollution by helping to decrease dioxide emissions is limited, the research said.
