Wash tunnel segment EVOLUTION Wash tunnel portals – clever wash sequences from Christ

The new wash tunnel portals from the EVOLUTION series perfectly round off the flexible modular construction system from Christ. EVOLUTION offers just the right machine technology for achieving a maximum on vehicle throughput for every wash tunnel installation site – whether short wash tunnels or high-performance units. EVOLUTION focuses on quality, operator friendliness and optimized wash sequences.

Successful wash portal details from the product series contour technique and transversal technique have been adopted, optimized and implemented in the new wash tunnel technique and have been complemented by further revolutionary developments.

The foundation of every wash portal is a sturdy, welded steel portal construction with a high-grade surface treatment. The surface of the EVOLUTION wash portals is galvanized and additionally duplex powder coated.

Christ now offers the highest quality grade portal frame under the description “DURAPROTECT Framework”. The complete portal frame is made from high-grade stainless steel (material quality 1.4301) and receives an additional duplex powder coating. DURAPROTECT guarantees the unit operator long portal life duration and considerably less maintenance work. In comparison to blank stainless steel portals, which must be regularly freed of surface corrosion and cleaned with stainless steel cleaners (e.g. caused by normal industrial water components such as salts, which are typically found in concentrated form in winter, and through metal particles, e.g. from chain abrasion/brake dust), DURAPROTECT simply requires an occasional cleaning with hose and sponge. By means of the special paint structure, washing off the portal is easy and fast. With DURAPROTECT, work times for unit cleaning are drastically reduced by up to 50%. That not only saves labor costs, but also shortens wash tunnel down time for unit cleaning, which therefore serves to increase wash unit profitability.

EVOLUTION wash tunnel portals can be obtained with diverse wash components. The machine can be individually configured with a selection of 4 side cylinder systems and 3 horizontal wash systems. A wide spectrum of wash unit possibilities, from space-saving modules for short wash tunnels up to modules with perfect all-around wash modules and extended rear follow-up modules, are available in order for each customer to individually plan his wash tunnel project with vehicle throughput potentials from 30 up to 120 vehicles per hour.

Additionally, the cylinder systems can be equipped with the Christ direct drive upon request. The direct drive is coupled with a frequency converter in the switchgear unit. In comparison to the drive motor included in the standard equipment, the direct drive saves up to 10% on electricity and is pleasantly quiet. A further advantage is that each cylinder can be operated with the necessary amount of RPM depending on which washing or drying material is used. Retrofitting cylinders with other washing or drying materials is possible without having to retrofit the back-geared motor, which offers the operator flexibility.

The EVOLUTION wash tunnel portals can be installed in wet areas for vehicle washing, as well as, in dry areas as a finish aggregate following the drying sequence.

Individual wash philosophies and washing and drying material compositions are made possible with the proven modular wash tunnel system from Christ AG.
