UNITI, the Federal association of medium-size mineral oil enterprises was registered on 1 July 1947
At the beginning only concerned with the handling of fuel matters, UNITI expanded its activities in the 1950er years on fuel oil, whose importance began to increase as a heat energy carrier.
At the beginning of the 1970's member support became necessary also in the area of the lubricants and in subjects related to the mineral oil application technology. Starting from 1977 these activities were intensified.
Since January 2009 UNITI and the global association of the German fuel and mineral oil trade association (gdbm) are operating together at the federal level. Since the beginning of of 2009 the new, merged federation started its activities in Berlin and bundled them for petrol stations, the heating market and lubricants.
UNITI represents nearly 90 per cent of the medium-size organized enterprises belonging of this market segment: nearly 3.000 enterprises selling their products to consumers and retailers as well as to approx 4.600 petrol stations and to more than 70 motorway stations.
Members of UNITI are also the majority of independent manufacturers and dealers of lubricants in the Federal Republic of Germany.
UNITI represents a majority of the medium-size producers and distributors of additives. On the heating market, i.e. in the trade with fuel oil and solid fuels, our member enterprises cover well 75 per cent of the end user business.
