The Association is a non-profit making organization, formed to promote the interests of its members and bodies engaged as marketers of petroleum products in the Republic of Ghana.
Provide specific services and functions as will be defined and directed from time to time by the participating Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs), which amongst others, provide coordination between the Association and all the major Stakeholders in the Oil Industry, the Ministries and other Government Agencies.
The OMCs operated as a loose organization for many years. However, in October 2003 an Association of Oil Marketing Companies (AOMCs) was registered with the adoption of a Constitution by all it Members. The Association of OMCs have a Secretariat headed by a Chief Executive Officer referred to as the Industry Coordinator. It also has a Governing Board made up of representatives of both the major and minor OMCs.
The OMCs are currently sponsoring over 1,800 licensed retail outlets.
The objective for which it was formed are:
• To promote the interest of its members and bodies engaged as Marketers of the Petroleum Products in the Republic of Ghana.
• To provide for the Petroleum Industry the means of advising, informing, influencing and executing policy with regard to economic, fiscal, legal, industrial, technical and other matters relating to the Industry.
The Association of OMCs now have forty-four (44) licensed oil marketing companies as it Members.
