Fuel consumption in Italy in 2014 drops to lowest levels since sixties
Italian consumption of fuels gasoline and diesel during all of 2014 was 57.6 million tonnes or 4.4% less than in the previous year “returning to levels from the 1960s,” the country’s Oil Union said January 20 in a statement.
Gasoline consumption in the period fell 1.8% while diesel increased by a similar percentage, it added.
During 2014 new vehicle registrations rose 4.5% compared with the previous year. Diesel-powered vehicles represented 55% of the total during last year. That percentage was. 54% in 2013.
