Sheetz has announced the official opening of its 700th store, located in Columbus, Ohio. The retailer welcomed guests for a special grand opening ceremony that featured giveaways and local food donations.

This milestone comes 70 years after beginning operations with its first store in Altoona, Pennsylvania. The retailer currently employs over 25,000 people across six states and has plans to expand further in the coming years.

As reported by NACS, the retailer has been in an expansion process throughout Ohio since 2021. This growth plan also includes foraying into Michigan via a Detroit store planned for opening in 2025.

“As a family, we are humbled to celebrate this remarkable milestone and are thankful to each and everyone of our employees, past and present, who have helped make this possible. Driven by a mission to constantly reinvent ourselves and put the Sheetz as we know it today, out of business, I couldn’t be more excited about the future and our path to 1,000 stores,” said Travis Sheetz, President and CEO of Sheetz.

To support this expansion across the Midwest region, Sheetz has announced the construction of  a $145 million distribution center in Ohio for additional food preparation and distribution.
