English Español NXT Mobility establishes new hydrogen station in Alkmaar

All hydrogen-powered vehicles can now refuel at the new site, which is part of the Duwaal project for developing a green H2 economy.

Last update:

A new hydrogen refueling station (HRS) has been opened by NXT Mobility in the city of Alkmaar, Netherlands.

Established as a NXT Energy Hub, the site is located at De Boekelermeer business park after an extensive pilot phase. This makes the first HRS in the city of Alkmaar a reality, where all hydrogen-powered vehicles can fill up at 350 or 700 bar.

"Although there are currently over 4,100 filling stations in the Netherlands, the number of places where hydrogen can be refueled is still very limited. The realization of this hydrogen location is therefore an important step, not only for NXT Mobility, but also for our region," said Erik Metselaar, Director of NXT Mobility.

The hydrogen station in Alkmaar is part of the Duwaal project, which  focuses on the development of a green hydrogen economy in the north region of the country. The goal is to set up a chain of hydrogen production, distribution and use.

The production of hydrogen from wind energy by Hygro, based in Alkmaar and Wieringerwerf, plays an important role in this process. Once regionally produced hydrogen from wind is available, it will be offered at the NXT Energy Hub in Alkmaar.
