Fastned has celebrated the opening of its first station in Denmark, located in the city of Helsingør, foraying into Scandinavia.

With four 400kW chargers, the station is located in a high-traffic strategic location, catering to EV drivers in the coastal city and drivers heading to Sweden on the Helsingør-Helsingborg ferry. The location is part of a tender won by Fastned in July 2023 to build a total of three stations.

The company held a ceremony attended, among others, by Mette Lene Jensen, Head of the Climate and Sustainability Committee and Deputy Mayor of Helsingør. The collaboration with Helsingør municipality and the Danish road authorities, Vejdirektoratet, has been pivotal in the accomplishment of this project.

“We aim to contribute to the development of a reliable and efficient fast charging infrastructure, supporting the country's transition to electric mobility, which is crucial in curbing climate change,” said Frederik Heesch Hansen, Country Manager Denmark at Fastned

The station was built and became operational only five months after the contract award. The company has two more sites in construction, Grevinge and Langeskov Syd, set to be opened later this year.

The Grevinge station will also have four chargers, available to drivers on the route between Copenhagen and Aarhus. The third and biggest location, Langeskov Syd, will have a total of 16 chargers, and will be part of a major charging hub.
