English Español TotalEnergies to establish 166 fast-charging points in Germany

The company will roll out the equipment at 33 locations in both eastern and southern regions of the country.

Last update:

TotalEnergies Germany has been awarded the contract for installing 166 high-power charging (HPC) points for electric vehicles (EV) at unmanaged rest areas along the freeways.

As part of the federal government's Autobahn GmbH tender, these charging points will be deployed at charging hubs to be established at 33 locations in eastern and southern Germany. These locations will be supplied exclusively with renewable electricity.

This latest agreement contributes to TotalEnergies' goal of operating more than 1,000 high-power charging hubs across Europe by 2028.

“This is a great opportunity for us to expand our network of state-of-the-art HPC hubs. Only with a nationwide and reliable charging infrastructure can we sustainably accelerate the expansion of electric mobility in Germany," said Jan Petersen, Managing Director of TotalEnergies Charging Solutions Deutschland GmbH.

HPC is a technology that can be used to charge compatible EVs with an output of over 150 kW and up to 300 kW. Depending on the vehicle type, this power can restore a range of 100 kilometers in 10 minutes and recharge the battery to 80% in around 30 minutes.

This nationwide tender initiated by the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport includes the construction of almost 1,000 fast-charging points at 200 unmanaged rest areas.
