The retailer has revealed that it will foray into three new states: Alabama, Georgia, and North Carolina. According to a recent report by Bloomberg, Chris Gheyens, President and CEO of Wawa, discussed this initiative and described it as the chain’s most “aggressive” growth efforts.

“Since our first store opened its doors 60 years ago, it’s been an honor serving our communities with trusted quality products and convenience to most importantly offering comfort and camaraderie to local friends and neighbors,” stated Gheysens.

Currently, the brand operates over 1,000 locations throughout Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia, Florida and Washington, D.C. Its foray into new states is nothing new, as the company had already announced its ambition to open 80 facilities in North Carolina, with the first eight to be opened in 2024, and up to 20 in Georgia.

In the future, Wawa aims to up the ante by targeting the opening of 100 c-stores annually.
